POCKET MONEY - TO GIVE OR NOT TO GIVE? THINK ABOUT THIS ONE!
Children are expensive, annoying, gorgeous and fun. They keep you young and the love we have for our children can help us through the most difficult times. Just look at your child’s face, you cannot help but feel good.
OK - pocket money – when there is not much money around perhaps it is a good idea to rethink the pocket money lifestyle that your child may have got used to. A good lesson for us all is perhaps to get children to learn to appreciate and understand money more by getting them to do odd jobs around the house in exchange for their pocket money. Clean the car, grow vegetables in the garden for the family to eat, bake bread and cakes, and clean the house. Whatever is actually going to be a real help to you the parent, maybe something that will free up more of your time to enable you to spend that time earning money or doing other essential tasks? Make sure that what they do is truly helpful and congratulate them for a job well done. They could clean the downstairs windows both inside and out, do the garden; teenagers can learn to do simple diy jobs like painting. You know your child, you know what they can do and according to their age what is safe for them to do.
As soon as they are old enough they could get a Saturday job or holiday job to earn their own money.
Soon they will understand and learn about money, which will benefit them in their future lives plus help the family through difficult times.
My daughter has never been given regular pocket money!

CHEMICALS and WILDLIFE and TOYS and NATURAL FOODS
I am a great believer in using shampoos, handwash, moisturiser etc. without harmful chemicals. The following company sells in 5 litre sizes. Bulk buying saves money, which is good news as these types of shampoos can normally be very expensive. They also sell Eco Laundry balls to save using harmful chemicals in your washing, plus nesting boxes to encourage wildlife into your garden and toys including a wonderful recycled cardboard fort for £19.53:-
