Think Factory Outlet Stores
Great bargains can be found and you often get designer items at very low prices. Try Bicester Outlet Shopping Centre, Gun Wharf Quay at Portsmouth, Clarks Village in Somerset, Aquascutum factory shop at Hemel Hempstead. Search the internet and check your local paper for factory outlet advertisements.
Accessories
Fashionable new scarves can be bought quite reasonably from many high street shops or markets, a scarf in a strong colour can soon update an outfit and look really good.
Handbags can be given a new look by hanging a couple of tassels from them, gold or silver chains also look really up to the minute - they can be bought from a haberdashery shop. Try handbag charms, but be careful as some handbag charms can look really tacky and cheap. Buy an inexpensive handbag in your local market and give it a make over. Have fun saving money.

Buttons, Trimmings, Colour
This beautiful coat is from Per Una.
There are lots of ways of transforming an old outfit to bring it up to the minute. One of the easiest is just to change the buttons, alternatively add some trimmings such as faux fur, velvet, lace or ribbon, perhaps in a more dramatic colour to contrast with the original item.
Ribbons, buttons and trimmings can be bought from haberdashery and fabric shops, they often have a fantastic selection! Use your imagination and get designing something really special.
If you have a plain, boring, old coat buy some faux fur to trim it, the deep cuffs as shown in the photo above look amazing. You could just do the cuffs on their own or if you want to be more dramatic add the fur trim round the collar, down the front and round the hem as well to achieve a really different coat.
Have fun redesigning your clothes and letting your imagination run a little wild.
Unwanted Items
Raid your parents wardrobes for unwanted items that may be about to come back into fashion or that could be revamped dramatically to make a cool new outfit.
Charity Shops
Charity shops are often good for bargains, from clothes to accessories. You can often find good handbags. Big car boot sales can be excellent for bargains, especially in the wealthier areas. Oxfam has an online clothes shop at www.oxfam.org.uk

You will need to take good photos and write a good description to get the best possible prices. Please remember to state the condition clearly and to point out any faults. You may also have some clothes that your children have grown out of, these could be sold in order to raise some money.
