FRANCE

Save money and enjoy yourself. For a cheap holiday abroad next summer go to France and stay in a Mobile Home or Tent. You can get a ferry from Portsmouth, Dover or wherever your nearest ferry port is and stay somewhere relatively near the french port so that you do not have too much driving to do and, therefore, you can save on travelling time and petrol costs. Sites can be found near the beach. Buy food in local supermarkets and wonderful french markets, eat well and enjoy inexpensive meals. Hypermarkets near the ferry ports are brilliant and full of good buys. The individual bakers shops have wonderful things to eat and are cheaper than restaurants. Most restaurants will offer a 3 course set menu and if you look around these can often be at very reasonable prices. Go for restaurants that are packed with locals and avoid the empty ones, people know a good deal and the better restaurants will have been discovered by others already so follow their lead. Have fun and enjoy a really cheap holiday!

The Gower Penninsula in Wales

This is a really beautiful place to visit with fabulous beaches but you are reliant on the weather of course.

West Wittering

Near Chichester in West Sussex is a great place for a holiday. From the main West Wittering beach carpark you can walk to some amazing stretches of sandy beach and sand dunes. You are also near to Chichester for good shopping and a top rate theatre. The Downs are close by for walking, picnicing and beautiful scenery. Petworth Park is a good place to see the deer. There are caravan parks nearby, bed and breakfast and various grades of holiday cottages are scattered around this part of West Sussex, the local tourist information office has a list of properties.

To save money learn to repair your own car, you can attend courses at your local college. With your new skill you could not only save money but also start earning money.

To save petrol -

Do not use your air conditioning unless it is absolutely essential, this can save a considerable amount of money over a year. Keep your tyres pumped to the correct pressure, remove roof bars, do not carry any unnecessary weight in the boot of the car.

For getting the children to school, share the school run with other parents, this can save time, energy and money.

DON'T BUY A BRAND NEW CAR -

Unless of course you are happy to stand outside an expensive showroom and tear up a considerable amount of £50 notes. As soon as you drive out of the showroom your new car is no longer a brand new car and therefore devalues considerably, sometimes as much as thousands of pounds. If you can afford to throw away this much money, would it not be better to give the money to someone else who really needs it. You will feel better, they will feel better and perhaps the World would be a better place. Shop around for secondhand cars, buy from a small garage that sells at trade prices, no frills, such as www.canfordswholesale.co.uk This company actually belongs to my brother, he works extremely hard and on a very small mark up, therefore, he sells a lot of cars so the stock is constantly changing. If you see a car on the website and you want it, it is best to proceed as quickly as possible. I buy all my cars from Canfords Wholesale and I have to confess that I have missed out on a particular car in the past, by dithering. On the other hand he is always getting new stock and therefore something else will come along. Avoid expensive showrooms, shop around, even go to the car auctions.
